Fringe Reiden Lake NYS

I'd thought I'd post this info since it's in my area. Yesterday I watched Fringe, a great show. Anyways, they showed a spot in New York near Albany called Reiden Lake.

Reiden Lake does not exist in New York. If I had to say what lake Reiden Lake is, I would say Canadargo Lake, just north of Cooperstown. It's a very nice area in case any Fringe viewers want to check out the area, lots of mountains and many things to do, there's the Baseball Hall of Fame, there's Howes Caverns, there's the Catskill Game Farm if you like to pet some of the animals.

If you're looking for where on a map Reiden Lake would be, based on the map, it would be between Cobleskill/Esperence and Johnstown. The Fultonville (town of Glen), town of Florida, Charleston areas (Montgomery County). There are no lakes there. Just some woods, farms, and Amish.

Cobleskill is where Howe Caves are, and the Catskill Game Farm has been closed for years.

So upon very close scrutiny I did locate a lake, Mariaville Lake, in the town of Mariaville, NY, that is located in almost the exact same position that Reiden Lake is supposedly located. It looks nothing like the map shown in Fringe, however it is centrally located in the almost exact spot as the lake in the show.

I just watched this episode on Hulu. Actually there are lakes very close to Johnstown/Fultonville/Gloversville: Peck's Lake and Caroga Lake. Either would be a good fit for the location on the map.

You might want to also consider Watervliet Reservoir.

Hi, thank you guys for your comments and interests in my post.

If you guys want to know something interesting, there have been a lot of Earthquakes there, near Delmar. I think it's an underground base they're digging, I'm pretty sure of it.

I'm sure if you guys watch Fringe, you probably think it's certainly a possibility.

From the episode "Peter" the map shows Reiden Lake located just south of where US Route 20 (Western Turnpike) and I-88 intersect. There is a lake in that area, it is Duane Lake, however the lake on the map in the episode shown as Reiden lake would be approximately 4-5 times the size of Duane Lake. Wow, I can't believe I spent all this time on this, but at least I am putting my degree in Geography to good use!

I make it into the Mohawk and Schoharie valleys regularly to hike and sightsee. I love the show but I did roll my eyes a little that they couldn’t do a little better with the geography. The Champlain Valley would have worked as that is more second home country than the area to the immediate west of the Capital District and as things freeze over more consistently up there. Watervliet Reservoir and Duane Lake do seem like the best real world natural features to correlate with Reiden Lake, though it looks like it would be on top of Rotterdam to me.

Since most of the filmIng is done near Vancouver, it makes sense to me that the lake they use to do the shooting is actually near there, rather than near where they decided to put it on a fictitious map.

Thanx guys. I hear another season is coming up soon. BTW that guy, Peter Bishop / Joshua Jackson, I saw him in a documentary about how he is a biodiesel supporter, which is great, it saves money and keeps it away from a energy cartel.
